Occurrence

Mainly the oak waste wood comes from Croatia and Hungary, but there are also buildings in Switzerland and Austria with old oak wood. The old wood is carefully extracted from the buildings and then processed into veneer.

Characteristics and wood colour

Reclaimed oak is coarse-pored with clearly defined annual rings. The sometimes decades-long use of the wood results in an unmistakable character with cracks and knots. The colour is usually light to dark brown and warmer than new oak. Old wood is sometimes also slightly steamed or boiled.
